People, there is no better investment.
Investing in people is the best investment you can make. At PTPI, we’re passionate about our mission and we know you are too. If you’re looking for a place to volunteer your time, you’ve come to the right team. Together with our partners, we connect volunteers with great opportunities to make a difference. Whether you have a specific project in mind or want to develop your own initiative, we can help make it happen.
By volunteering in your community, you’ll not only enjoy the experience, but you’ll also help make your community stronger. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and discover new places you may not have otherwise seen. And during these complex times, your support is critical to community development. So why not join us today and make a positive impact in your community?

Volunteering with People to People International in Belgium or Internationally
Why do people volunteer? – People enjoy volunteering for a number of reasons. Some are keen to learn a new skill; others want to have fun and meet new people; others will have time on their hands and are happy to contribute; and there are people who are devoted to a cause and want to make a difference. We all have skills and possibly small amounts of time to give something back to our communities. Whatever your reason for wanting to volunteer, we are pleased that you have taken this step to get involved.
Why in English? – English is so frequently used in Brussels that it has become almost a “lingua franca” for the foreigners arriving here from all over the world. Our volunteer opportunities will be accessible to you whether you are a native English speaker or come from any other country. This is the reality of Brussels: Italians and Swedes may work together with people from Japan and Belgium to support an organization initially launched by a group of people from Ireland.
There are some organizations where other languages are an advantage, and we will make this clear in the opportunity description.
What are the conditions? – Here we provide a list of things that are important to think about:
We work mostly with organizations where English is the main language of communication. There are other groups covering the Dutch and French-speaking communities.
We are keen to support non-profit organizations, charities and NGOs (local sports clubs, the arts, scouting groups for example).
Note that Belgian and EU law is quite intricate in the area of volunteering and we are not able to offer a salary, but can/do agree on expenses where needed.
Respect for all parties involved is very important. Opportunity descriptions will be as complete as possible, partner organizations must treat volunteers with due care and attention and, in turn, volunteers must meet the commitment they have made.

Will be updated – June 2024:
Admin and Project Managers. We are also keen to have support from our internship network. We are a pure volunteer run organization at the moment and assistance is very welcome. We have limited funds and do all we can to support our interns with small amounts of pocket money. We must sign an MOU (memorandum of understanding) for the role, state the tasks, fee, method of payment and file this along with proof of ID in case of an official audit.
Data protection leadership. As an NGO, we and our other community partners have to comply with new legislation from May 2018. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is being used to provide better predictability and protect the rights of citizens in the EU. Are you able to project manage the effort to be GDPR compliant? Our best estimate is that this would need three hours of effort each month.
Not living in Belgium? There is always much that needs to be done in many parts of the world. We can check with our local chapters and partners to find opportunities for you to volunteer.
